"Shakira"

By Alex Diaz

Shakira Isabel Merabak was born on February 2, 1977. At an early age she showed a talent for singing and dancing. When she was ten years old, she started writing songs and entered them in a contest that was searching for a child artist. She won three years in a row.

When she was 14 years old, she met a music executive. She auditioned and got a contract. Her first album was not a big success, but it did introduce her style to the music industry and to the public. Her next several albums were successful, and she became famous throughout all of Latin America. Later she became a very famous actress.
