My Favorite Pet
Alphonse Yema, S.C.J.
(The Democratic Congo)

My favorite pet is the dog. In my country, many people have dogs as their pets. A dog can be a good friend to his master. For me, I like this animal as a pet because it likes to be with me. Because I am his master, he follows me around. I enjoy his company when he's with me because it's like having a friend and a companion nearby. Also, I like taking walks with my dog.

Some dogs are more than pets. They can be very interesting and can also give many services to protect their families. Indeed, in my family, we have a dog. His name is Mundele. It means "the white one". He is 7 years old. He protects our family against robbers and bandits. He is a guard dog for our house. At night, if there is a problem, Mundele will get our attention by barking, crying, or scratching at the door.

I like having Mundele as my pet, because he assists my family, protects our house from danger, and is a fun companion for me. He is not only useful, he is a good friend!
