My First Mass in the Parish Where I was Born
I want to talk about an important and very enjoyable day in my life. It was fifteen years ago when I had my first Mass in the Parish where I was born. However, first I have to talk shortly about my ordination day.
My ordination day took place on June 17, 1987 in Stadniki, Poland. It was the pinnacle of seven years of studying and spirituality formation for me. On that day, a Bishop came to our seminary and during the solemn Mass, he ordained both me and my classmates. We had been waiting for that moment for a very long time, and that day fulfilled our dreams. From that moment on we were priests, and we could go to people and bring them the Gospel.
A week later, I went to my native Parish. People were waiting for me at the border of the Parish, and they brought me to the church on a carriage pulled by four horses. At the gate of the church, I was met my parents. They were very happy and welcomed and blessed me. Then I went to the sacristy to prepare myself for Mass. Then, I started to pray my first Mass. My hands shook, and my voice shook! I wanted to thank God for my priesthood, for my parents and my brothers, and for all the people who had supported me all the time that I worked on my way to the priesthood. After the Mass, everybody congratulated me, and then we went to my home where there was a big party in the garden. We had dinner, and afterwards everyone played games and sang songs.
It was a great day for me. That day will remain in my memory for a very long time because it was the most important day of my life!
