Fight Against White Power

Malcolm X
By Jack Slater
Fr. Joaquim Garrido Mendes, S.C.J.
(Portugal)

Malcolm X begins by describing this famous man's birth and ends with his death. Malcolm X describes Malcolm's childhood, his very difficult youth, his dreams, his ideas, and his fight against "white power". Jack Slater, an American author, shows us why Malcolm X became the 20th century's reference and a hero for the African-american people in this country.

Malcolm's story takes place in the United States, between 1925 and 1965. Malcolm X lived in a very difficult environment. Nevertheless, he found his way, he fought for his ideas, and he died trying to help pave the way for the African-american people's liberation. For me, this was the most interesting thing in Malcolm X.

I would definitely recommend this book to others to read. Malcolm X's violent way is not acceptable; but Malcolm is an example for us because He was a fearless man who was able to give his life to build a new world. Today, we still need fearless men that will fight for freedom and for justice.
