The Milwaukee Library and Public Museum
By: Sofia Maz and Jose Antonio Estrada
(Colombia, Mexico)

The Central Public Library and the Milwaukee Public Museum are both located in downtown Milwaukee. Last month we went there. It was very interesting. The building’s architecture is classical and beautiful. We had the opportunity to learn about Milwaukee’s history and the cultures of different countries.

We saw the different sections in the library and how many books there were. Anybody can borrow these books. The entrance to the library is free also. There are special places for children where they can enjoy the books. There are also places were people can use the computers and play with toys and games. Also the library has special fun programs for kids to teach them to enjoy books and to read.

Near the library is a public museum. At the museum, we saw displays about different cultures. Also we went to the IMAX Theater, where we saw a movie about Mount Kilimanjaro. It was very interesting because it showed us the mountains and landscape of Africa.

On this fieldtrip, we learned a lot about Milwaukee’s culture and cultures from around the world…we hope that we will go on another field trip there soon!
