The Domes
By: Jesus Guerrero

picture of the domesA few days ago, I visited the Domes which are in the City of Milwaukee. It is a nice and interesting place because it presents different biomes. The construction of this place began on 1959. It was completed in 1967. There are three domes. Each dome shows a specific biome. In the first there are a great variety of flowers, the second one shows the forest biome, and the third dome shows the desert.

The Floral Show Dome has a big variety of flowers. It provides serene sittings to be captured by photographers, enjoyed by visitors, and used by students learning about flowering plants. The Floral Show Dome offers beauty and inspiration for all.

The Tropical Dome shows over 1,200 species of tropical plants as well as birds and iguanas. There are tropical fruits and plants that provide color. 0ne of the people who works there explained to me about the process of each one of the plants. She also explained to me about the development of this ecosystem. It is an interesting place too. I felt like I was in a natural forest.

The Arid Dome shows a collection of desert plants grouped by geographic regions. Each area is characterized by unique plants species able to survive drought and intense hot sun. In this dome I saw a lot of plants that exist in my city, Including the Agave, which is the plant tequila is made from. Like the other two domes, the Arid Dome shows an extraordinary variety of plants.

Visiting of the Domes was a nice experience for me. I enjoyed seeing the biomes of our world in only three hours. One of these days I hope to visit that nice place again.
