English After 30 Years: A Poem
By:  Fr. Adérito Gomes Barbosa, SCJ
(Portugal)

I was 20 years old.
Then 30 years passed,
Since I had studied English.
A long, long time ago.

Last year,
I remembered some rules.
Now,
I need to study English to read,
to understand,
and to speak.

The English Language is a universal Language.

I arrived in Hales Corners.
I met Sandro.
He had a book in his hands
What?
“Can you read this book in English?”
Sandro, on July, 5th, said to me,
“Of course! It’s easy.”

Aderito, on July, 5th, thought:
“Will I read a book each week?
It is impossible!”

Aderito, on August, 18th has found that:
After one month, I can read one book each week in English!

Is it impossible?
No, it IS possible.

I have read four books so far in my time here.
Thank you, Brooke!
