The ESL Times / Spring, 2004 Aguilas de Tecario
Every weekend he went to play in different places: Uruapan, Zitacuaro, Taretan, Tacambaro, Ario de Rosales, and villages near Tecario. His team had very good basketball players. Most of them were from my Uncle’s town Tecario, Michoacan. I saw him when he left the house every weekend, either on Saturday mornings or Sundays. He took the ball, tennis-shoes and his uniform. He said, “I will return at night”, and my Aunt said, “God Bless you”. Sometimes I went with him. I enjoyed those great times, because the people in the community organized everything for the basketball championship, especially in the small villages. His team was very famous around Tecario. They also won many trophies. My experience with basketball is very nice, but the problem is, I am not a good player like my Uncle is. I never played with him, and I did not receive any instruction how to play. My Uncle has wonderful memories of his favorite sport. Sometimes he tells me about his experiences when he began to play and his travels to other places.
