Ranchera Music
By: Camilo Garcia
(Mexico)

student pictureWhy do I like ranchero music? My uncle Ignacio loves ranchera music, and his favorite singers are Vicente Fernandez, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Jorge Negrete, Javier Soliz, and Mariachi. When I was a child, I listened to only this kind of music. I think this is the reason I like this music.

I have good memories from my Uncle Ignacio Garcia, but I have three very important memories from him; basketball, music, and working in the fields. Every morning when he got up he turned on the radio. The radio program had only this kind of music and dedication programs.

Sometimes my Uncle’s friend visited him in his house. When they were planning other championships, they also ate snacks, guacamole and cheese with tostadas, but they also drank beer, tequila and listened to their favorite music.
