THE SHST FOLLIESstudent picture

I have just had a busy week, but I am happy about it. Last Friday night we had the follies, a special night for students and staff at Sacred Heart School of Theology, where I learn English, to perform something fun. That was why since last Monday we, the ESL Program, have been busy preparing our performance. Actually, we are eleven students and three teachers, but some of us could not perform because they had something else to do. Fortunately, we have wonderful and talented teachers and students.

Our teachers, Ruth and Brooke, organized our performance. We, the ESL students, were supposed to perform something special from our countries. Three Polish students, Zbigniew, Kazimierz, and Eugeniusz, sang two Polish songs. Fredy from Columbia sang one favorite song from his country “Lunita Consentida”. Pascal, our Congolese student, performed a traditional dance from his country. You might ask, how about Indonesia? Ignatius, another Indonesia student in the ESL Program, preferred to dance a traditional dance from his hometown. As you may know, I have never learned how to dance. I am not good enough to dance, especially a traditional dance in front of people at a performance. Even though I could not join with Ignatius, I tried to become involved in the ESL performance by singing and dancing. As I said, we have wonderful and talented teachers: they prepared a song titled “ESL’s for Me – ESL’s for You” as an ultimate end to our performance.

I can only imagine that it would have been better, if you had been here. Hopefully, next time you will be able to join us.
