Space Exploration?
By: Fr. Eugeniusz Kotlinski, CM

We live in the 21st century where people can look at stars and discover new ones. We spend vast sums of money to explore space. But, this is also an age where people lose their lives from hunger, sickness and destroyed nature. In my opinion we should solve Earth’s problems before going out into space.
We can get much information about human problems watching TV or listening to the radio. I think we can watch people on TV daily who look for food. It is true that in Sudan, Ethiopia, and Bangladesh people don’t have enough food. Of course, different organizations try to help them, but they need a lot of money because this problem is very big. Many people need our help at the same time we look up to the sky and discover new objects.
Today people still get sicknesses. We still have problems with cancer, AIDS, and the flu. Many people still lose their lives because they don’t have money to buy medicine or to go to a doctor. We still don’t know of a medicine that can conquer cancer or AIDS. Scientists need to do many tests, but they don’t have money. But, we still look at sky and think about what
Is there. We also know that nature is very important to us, but it is destroyed more and more. We see dirty lakes, rivers and forests in our countries. We often can’t find clean places in our cities. Factories make messes and poison the air and our neighborhoods. We should save nature because people need healthy water, grass and air. But, it all needs a lot of money because we have to create a new system where it will be possible.
In my opinion, we have to remember our planet’s problems because if we forget, our planet will become dirty in a short time. It can also be a planet full of people dying from hunger or sickness. First,
we should try to conquer these problems, and afterwards, we can look for new stars and dream about an exciting trip to Mars or to different planets.
