A Catholic-Jewish Dinner
By: Juan Carlos Penagos Duque, SCJ
(Colombia)

group at Catholic Jewish dinnerI was at the Catholic Jewish Dinner. It was new for me. It was interesting, but I hoped for something different, something more liturgical, according to the season.

When we arrived at the conference, there were many people there; some Catholics, and many Jewish people. Everybody was very lovely to us, especially, one man that sat with us the whole time. This man explained everything about the conference to us.

The food was very strange; it was the following: red wine, salt water, bread, parsley, matzo, and bitter herbs. I think that it is typical Jewish food for a Passover dinner.

Two women explained to us about the conference also. They explained the meal to us, and also, they sang some songs in English and in Hebrew.

Finally, I think that the everyone in my group enjoyed the dinner very well.
