The ESL Times / Spring, 2005 The Easter Triduum
The retreat was wonderful. It was the first time I had been there. Everything there was new, young and beautiful for me, and I enjoyed the time so much. Fr. Paul, Fr. James Walters, Br. Hugo Morales, Br. Hugo Londono, Br. Carlos Andres, Br. Lino Martinesz, Br. Juan Estaban, Br. Fredy Patino, Br. Juan Carlos, Br. Kepler Philippe, Br. Sergio Rivas, and me (twelve people in all) were warmly received by Fr. Pat Nery, who is the rector of the Moreau Seminary. We stayed in the very comfortable building of the Moreau Seminary at the university. We all were very happy and surprised to be there. The university of Notre Dame is very beautiful, comfortable, and very large with over 300 buildings, 1,250 acres of ground, and more than 14,000 students. The food there was especially wonderful with delicious shrimp for feasting on Good Friday. We enjoyed the celebrations in the Basilica of Sacred Heart so much. The celebrations of Jesus Christ’s Washing His Disciples’ Feet and the Tenebrae on Holy Thursday, the Lord’s Passion and the Stations of Cross on Good Friday, and the Paschal Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday were great with about 40 priests and over 6000 people attending. We had to arrive at the Basilica one hour before the celebrations began to get some seats. All the people were very solemn with a burning zeal to attend the celebrations. There were young, beautiful, and kind students attending. The music and the singing in the celebrations were wonderful. I want to thank Fr. Pat Nery, Fr. Paul, and Fr. James
Walters for giving us the opportunity to go on this wonderful
retreat at the university of Notre Dame in Indiana for
the Easter Triduum
