The ESL Times / Spring, 2005
Do you know what a Fish Fry is? If you are Catholic, certainly you will know. During the Lenten Season, especially on Friday, many Catholics do not eat meat. That is why many restaurants on Fridays try to offer a fish menu . On Friday, March 4, our ESL classes finally had a field trip to enjoy a Fish Fry. It was a cold day when we had our field trip. At first, we went to visit an old building named Turner Hall. This building, constructed in 1882 by Henry H. Koch, is one of the oldest buildings in Milwaukee. There we enjoyed rock climbing, and we really had a lot of fun. After that we went to the Turner Hall Restaurant that is located
on the first floor of the Turner building. We had lunch there. It was a tremendous
day because we all went together, and we shared our experiences at that one
table. Everyone had the occasion to taste the special menu offered by the Restaurant,
so we tried the fish fry with salads and some drinks. The restaurant offered
a wide variety of appetizers, sandwiches, and salads as well as an evening
dinner menu. While we were waiting for lunch, we shared many things with each
other; and we took many pictures.
